What is the Carcinoid Heart Center?
Formally conceived in 2011, it is the collaborative team, led by Jerome S Zacks MD, focused on patients who have carcinoid heart disease or those with the carcinoid syndrome who are considered at risk for Carcinoid Heart Disease.
The center’s patient focus is two-fold: First, on issues related to the carcinoid syndrome and its resultant carcinoid heart disease. Second, in the belief that a healthy heart is important in the struggle against carcinoid disease and all its manifestations and complications,  the Carcinoid Heart Center focuses on all the important cardiovascular risk factors, including Hypertension, Diabetes, Lipid Disorders, Obesity, Smoking Behavior, Homocysteine, Cardio-selective C-Reactive Protein, Dietary Factors and Life-Style/Exercise habits.
